📖 Ramadan in the Quran
📖 Quran 2:185
"Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing guidance for the people."
📖 Quran 2:183
"O you who believe, fasting is decreed for you, as it was decreed for those before you."
📖 Quran 2:187
"You may eat and drink until the white thread of light becomes distinguishable from the dark thread of night at dawn."
🌙 About Ramadan Fasting (As per Quran Alone)
📅 What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guidance for the people, a clear proof of the guidance, and the criterion between right and wrong. During this month, believers fast as prescribed by GOD.
"The month of Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed..."
— Quran 2:185
⏰ Fasting Times
• Start (Imsak): From dawn (when you can distinguish the white thread of light from the black thread of night).
• Break (Iftar): At nightfall (after sunset).
"...You may eat and drink until the white thread of light becomes distinguishable from the black thread of night at dawn. Then you shall fast until nightfall..."
— Quran 2:187
👥 Who Should Fast?
Fasting is prescribed for all believers who are able. Those who are ill or traveling can make up the days later. If anyone cannot fast at all, they may compensate by feeding the poor.
"...Whoever among you is sick or traveling shall fast the same number of other days. Those who can fast only with difficulty may substitute feeding a poor person..."
— Quran 2:184
💫 Purpose of Fasting
GOD prescribed fasting to help us develop righteousness (taqwa) — to remember Him, be grateful, and strengthen self-control.
"O you who believe, fasting is decreed upon you as it was decreed upon those before you, that you may attain righteousness."
— Quran 2:183
Ramadan is therefore a time for reflection, remembrance of GOD, reading the Quran, and being charitable — all to seek GOD's pleasure Alone.
May GOD increase our knowledge and keep us steadfast in submission to Him Alone.
All praise belongs to GOD, Lord of the worlds. 🌿
⭐ Astronomical Calculation - The Quranic Method
Moon sighting is NOT required to begin Ramadan fasting. GOD gave us scientific knowledge to determine exactly when a lunar month will begin and end. Astronomers have this knowledge precisely calculated.
[10:5] "He is the One who rendered the sun radiant, and the moon a light, and He designed its phases that you may learn to count the years and to calculate."
[2:189] "They ask you about the phases of the moon! Say, 'They provide a timing device for the people, and determine the time of Hajj.'"
Just as we do not try to physically see the sun's position when it is time to pray our Contact Prayers (Salat), there is no need for trying to sight the crescent of the moon to start fasting. The sun, earth and moon follow precise orbits (21:33). We use astronomical calculations as GOD intended, Alhamdulillah.
The calculator above uses precise astronomical data based on Quranic guidance.
