Check it yourself in 5 minutes
You do not need to trust anyone. Take a calculator and check these numbers yourself.
1
What you need
- A phone or a calculator. That is all.
- 5 minutes.
- An open mind.
2
The check
Divide each number by 19. If the answer is a whole number, it matches.
| What we count | Number | Check |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Letters in the first verse (Basmalah, 1:1), in Arabic | 19 | ÷ 19 = 1 ✔ |
| 2 Suras in the Quran | 114 | ÷ 19 = 6 ✔ |
| 3 Total verses (6234 numbered + 112 Basmalahs) | 6346 | ÷ 19 = 334 ✔ |
| 4 Times the word “God” appears | 2698 | ÷ 19 = 142 ✔ |
| 5 Sum of the verse numbers where “God” appears | 118123 | ÷ 19 = 6217 ✔ |

Two things to remember
- These facts refer to the original Arabic text of the Quran.
- The count of the word “God” and the sum of the verse numbers are shown on every page of the Quran translation by Rashad Khalifa, so anyone holding the book can see them.
